I say this time and time again that you have to use both intuition and data. If you're just relying on what you think, you could be leading yourself right off a cliff.
That’s the other end of the spectrum, and I’ve seen it too, metrics alone with no intuition and experience (or worse, twisting metrics to match your goal). Here you are just as in danger of going wrong. That’s where the key is, I believe, a balance between metrics and developed intuition. What to you think?
As a social entrepreneur I have studied at least something about Social Impact Measurement.
I think that defining the metrics and following them to tract improvement is very positive - if you don’t measure it, it doesn’t exist - but it is also a difficult and expensive job.
And as you said so well, a combination of “gut feelings” or wisdoms adds to the formula, and that doesn’t come easily or fast.
I’m starting a cooperation with the school of business of the university of Ljubljana to see if they can help us set the metrics and methodology for our Coworking spaces. I’ve seen many initiatives fostering such cooperations successfully
