Thank you for having me Joel! With so many AI tools out there, itβs easy to feel stuck sometimes. Having a framework really clears the mental fog. Hope it helps someone else, too! :)
Love this. Most January's I give something up to create quality mental space and reduce time drag/waste - this has included email on my phone, news, diary appointments started with Fridays but now includes Thursday and Wednesday, Instagram to name a few. I have a habit of rating things X&Y - X = critical to value creation in my mission & Y = calmness. Almost all fail the calmness test. Now you have me thinking about AI & Tools π€ Thanks
Loved this, Mia and Joel! Literally yesterday I had been staring at Notion in my taskbar wondering how many weeks it had been since I last opened it. So, just did the thing after reading this, deleted it entirely - bye Notion!!
I'm loving just having a few really great tools, and then creating a few of my own as well for what I need in a way that suits how I work and think.
Brilliant collaboration! I can't stop thinking about the line 'you could build systems that compound all year.' This is what I need to do far more of with my research and creative writing as it can be quite scattergun at times! Thank you Mia for your consistent brilliance and you too Joel for giving a platform to such engaging and intelligent creators. π
curious what you use for search Mia? The one i'm not sure if I'm getting enough value out of is perplexity, but Ive grown accustomed to using it as my default search engine now :) Can't imagine going back to google. But I have gemini pro through google workspaces, claude max which i love, and gpt pro.
do you pay for perplexity or do you find the free version is ok for your search needs? Also not sure why but I haven't even tried gemini for search. I have pro through workspace...
Love this article! Sometimes using main core workflows is much more important than trying to disperse your attention to a lot of tools and a lot of smaller workflows!
I definitely need to do some AI tool spring cleaning this year, I have been starting to narrow down the tools that I use and it's clear that some of them need to go. And ChatGPT might just be up for the chop π¬.

Love the post!!! I was so excited for it to be out! And you Mia win the price go best recognizable visual brand on Substack, I love each graphic!!
EVERYONE, listen to what Joel said!!! π€£
Thank YOU so much. I loved this collab so much β€οΈ
If I am honest, I am paying for five AI tools right now and I properly opened two of them this week.
That gap is exactly the problem youβre naming, activity without traction.
well said Melanie!!!

Thatβs awesome! I will try that

@Mia did an incredible job here. Glad you enjoyed it!
Notion is my nemesis! π€£
"Is this problem costing us more than this tool would cost?"
That's the question that stops me from signing up for the viral tool of the week π€ .
yes!!!
haha, it's a good check to go through :)

yes, Brilliant take by @Mia
thank you Sam!! :)

Google + Perplexity + Gemini + Bohrium (for more scientific / academic research) :)

I have the pro version for free, as part of my bank's perks hahah. Never tried the free version!
Iβve got to make my mind up here lol. Iβm going to try gemini and see how it compares for a default search experience.
you too joel!
Yes! I do this regularlyβ¦and just axed Notion to free up funds for Claude Code. π
love the movement against Notion. I don't feel so left behind anymore for not using it π€£
Heh, I found it had too much overlap with GSuite tools I already used. And I had no interest in the proprietary database!
Has love it, Iβm still on notion free

thank you for reading Ilia :)
So many teams confuse more AI tools with more progress, when the real leverage comes from fewer, well-designed workflows
Exactly this! :)

we're here to support you Noel! :) thanks for reading!
(also, don't tell the GPT fans, but I'm 100% with you on dropping it π)
An idea for our next podcast is the top AI tools for businesses, ChatGPT wonβt be on that list. Iβll cancel mine if you cancel yours first π€£
Oooooh I'm way ahead of you! Have cancelled mine 12+ months ago π€£
Rooting for that podcast topic!!
Same!
Love that, Noel!
The Tool Graveyard Audit your system needs every now and then. Thank you Mia and Joel for putting this piece together!
thank you for reading Raghav, and enjoy the graveyard audit haha. I'm sure you'll find a tool or two to drop! :)
