Going to the fundamentals of psychology are we? Such a helpful piece on the importance of ownership and inculcating safety in the team. AI can go fast but it's ultimately down to establishing trust. I really liked the two actionable frameworks too (the 'vibe checker' idea for surfacing what's not being said is just a nice touch!) You and Paul did a fantastic job here. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Control and safety say a lot about the kind of leader you are. What struck me most is this: of all the things AI can do, it still can’t offer either. That’s still our job.
This is such a grounded and timely piece, Joel. You’ve articulated what so many leaders are feeling right now, the tension between accelerating tools and the need for deeper trust and human connection. What really stood out to me is how you framed resilience not as a fixed trait, but as a shared practice. That shift alone feels like a game-changer in how we think about team dynamics in the AI era. Also, your emphasis on behavioral leadership, the unseen, often unspoken layer of how people actually move together, is exactly the kind of thinking that creates sustainable innovation, not just speed.
Loved reading this. Thanks for putting it out there.
This nails what thoughtful leadership in an AI-driven world actually looks like. It’s not about control or speed for their own sake, but structuring trust, voice, and iteration into the core of how things get done.
I especially loved the line: “AI can mimic patterns. But only humans can hold space for what hasn’t yet been spoken.” Really gets into the root of what we should be focusing on.
Really loved this series of discussions, AI can do a lot, but it can’t build trust or presence the way people can.
I think a big piece of success with AI is finding the balance of giving all that you should give for it to do, but not more. That’s so tough

Let’s just say his research did much of the heavy lifting for this piece 🤣
Fantastic reading!

Yes! Thanks for outlining that, Tope!
The 3 Stage "Co-" Model is very similar to the model that enables me to launch a new company every 6 months 🌟
Oh wow, I’d love to learn more about that sometime!
The practices for resilient leadership are so timely.

Thanks, James! I’ve seen you outline some of these points in your posts!
