I’m glad it resonated! I’ve read it from both you and Wyndo recently that AI should amplify, partner with us, I think that’s were the originality will come from.
The core takeaway is brutal but accurate: the AI search shift kills passive visibility. If you’ve been coasting on keywords or volume, you’re already invisible. AI’s retrieval layers only surface sources it can trust, which means topical authority and structured clarity aren’t optional anymore.
As AI filters for clarity and expertise, it will inevitably push more writers to double down on original research and firsthand experience, cause recycled takes simply won’t get surfaced.
A timely article, especially considering how people often use AI to directly find solutions to their problems, while natural search on Google is being impacted by Google’s AI Overview. Honestly, lately when I search on Google, most of my questions are answered right in the AI Overview section. Except in cases where the topic is too specialized, and I need to dive deeper into discussions, like those on Reddit.

I’ve seen the same! I do think Google will lose market share as users turn to other sources like Reddit, and… maybe Substack?
I think so too. Real human connection and engagement seem to make a difference.
